China is the champion of clean energy!

Fatih Birol, director of the International Energy Agency, said at a keynote side meeting held at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in China that China has made remarkable achievements in the development of clean energy such as solar and wind power and electric vehicle industries, and "is a champion in the field of clean energy."

The latest data from the National Energy Administration show that as of the end of October 2023, China's renewable energy power generation capacity has exceeded 1.4 billion kilowatts, reaching 1.404 billion kilowatts, an increase of 20.8%, accounting for about 49.9% of the total installed power generation capacity in the country. Among them, hydropower 420 million kilowatts (conventional hydropower 370 million kilowatts, pumped storage capacity 50.4 million kilowatts), wind power 404 million kilowatts, photovoltaic power generation 536 million kilowatts, biomass power generation 44 million kilowatts. It is expected that the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation in the country will exceed 1.45 billion kilowatts by the end of this year, and the installed capacity of wind power photovoltaic power generation will exceed 1 billion kilowatts.

From January to October this year, the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation in the country increased by 191 million kilowatts, an increase of nearly 100 million kilowatts over the same period last year, an increase of 90.8%, accounting for 76.4% of the new installed capacity in the country. Among them, hydropower increased by 8.44 million kW, wind power increased by 37.31 million kW, photovoltaic power generation increased by 142 million kW, and biomass power generation increased by 2.32 million kW. It is expected that the new installed capacity of wind power photovoltaic power generation in 2023 will exceed 200 million kilowatts.

From January to October this year, the country's renewable energy generation reached 2.33 trillion KWH, accounting for 31.8 percent of the country's total power generation, of which hydropower 980.5 billion KWH, wind power 696.8 billion KWH, photovoltaic 489.8 billion KWH, biomass 164 billion KWH. It is expected that the national renewable energy generation will reach 3 trillion KWH in the whole year, accounting for about 1/3 of the electricity consumption of the whole society.
